Skoda PA II Zelva Takom

Hi guys!

Here is a rare armored car made in Czechoslovakia during the interwar period. It has an amazing shape!!! Its nickname is Zelva, which means turtle, because of its shape or speed ( lack of...).
The design was not a success and only a handful was made, among which three were sold to Austria.

The kit is made by Takom...thanks Takom!!!

Who would have ever thought the model would be produced in injected one day? The rendition of the car is very nice, and with only a few pieces to assemble it could be built within a weekend. I replaced the tires by resins made by DEF. They have an excellent aspect, and show the effect of the weight of the car on the tires! It's very quick to install on the model.  My only concern was the assembly of the FOUR parts that have to be glued in order to make the top of the AC. You have to be really precised to line them up properly. Otherwise no trouble with this model.

I decided to make the most complex camo scheme. I used Tamiya tape and acrylics. It takes a long time to make it. First I sprayed a basic grey overall, then some spots of brown, gave some shape with the tape that I had to cut in small straight pieces, spots of sand, tapes etc... The result will appear at he end when removing the tapes. A few corrections might be necessary. Then I added some diluted black in order to show the lines and bolts. Finally some pastels powder on the machine gun (gun metal Tamiya)) and others for dust and mood. (Mig prod).

Finally I am very pleased with the model, It was really a great and pleasant time to assemble and paint this strange car. Hope Takom has other surprising kits to offer us!
